In a series of annual surveys conducted from financial years 2014 to 2019 in New Zealand, regarding citizens feeling safe in their neighborhoods after dark, 71 percent of respondents in fiscal year 2019 agreed with the statement, which conveyed they felt safe in their neighborhood after dark. Although a slight increase from the previous financial year, this was down from financial year 2017, in which 77 percent of respondents stated they felt safe in their neighborhood after dark.
