Sushi purchase in large-scale retail in Italy 2019, by frequency
In recent years, the number of Italian consumers who have started buying ready-to-eat meals has increased significantly due to a changing lifestyle and new eating and shopping behaviors. Such new purchasing habit involved both traditional food, as well as non-traditional products such as sushi. According to a survey conducted in 2019, 18 percent of Italian consumers stated that they bought sushi in hyper- or supermarkets on average once a month. Instead, seven percent of the Italians taking part in the survey declared that they purchased it at least once a week in large-scale retail stores.
