Modern contraceptive use among married women in Nigeria 2018, by education
As of 2018, the share of married women in Nigeria who used modern contraceptive methods was consistently high among educated women. Only four percent of married women without any education used modern contraception, whereas the percentage of women using modern contraceptive methods who held more than a secondary school degree reached 23 percent. According to the survey, the use of modern contraception was notably lower in the rural areas of the country. More specifically, in urban areas this share equaled to 26 percent, whereas in rural areas was ten percent, with much lower rates in the northern states.
