Production of pears in South Africa 2000-2019
As of 2018/19, 414 thousand metric tons of pears were produced in South Africa. The production recovered after a drop in the previous year, when the volume was at 401.5 thousand metric tons. Since 2000, the production of pears in South Africa followed an upgoing trend, reaching a peak of 449.9 thousand metric tons in 2016/17. It is worth noting that around 50 percent of the produced quantity is sold in the international market.
