Nursing and training trainee allowances paid due to COVID-19 in Ghana 2020
As of mid-year 2020, the government of Ghana had paid trainee allowances amounting to 526 million and 433 million Ghanaian cedis (GHS) (approximately 90.2 and 74.2 million U.S. dollars) for nursing and teaching, respectively. Overall, other social intervention programs put in place by the government included the School Feeding Programme that fed nearly three million beneficiaries before school closures in March 2020, and the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program which offered three payment cycles of cash grants to over 334 Ghanaian households.
