Share of households in South Korea 2000-2021, by size
In 2021, the share of households with three or more persons in South Korea dropped to around 38 percent. The share of three or more person households has declined over the past two decades, while the shares of one and two-person households have increased. Since 2000, the share of one-person households has nearly doubled, while three-person households, who used to make up the majority of households, now make up less than half of national households.
