Domestic credit to private sector as share of GDP in Sub-Saharan Africa 2020
In 2020, credit granted to the private sector by commercial banks in Mauritius corresponded to nearly 96 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This was the highest ratio registered in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Tunisia and Morocco, financial resources provided to the private sector each covered around 71 percent of the GDP, while the ratio was measured at approximately 69 percent in South Africa.
