Data from the second quarter of 2021 showed that online sales of perishable food products were still limited in Italy. Fresh food accounted for roughly 16 percent of online grocery sales, while meat made up less than two percent of the whole Italian grocery e-commerce market. On the contrary, shelf-stable food accounted for the biggest market share with almost 30 percent of online sales of consumer packaged products.
