Monthly wholesale electricity prices in Estonia 2019-2024
In April 2024, the average wholesale electricity price in Estonia decreased to 60.4 euros per megawatt-hour.
Between January 2021 and August 2022, electricity prices in the Baltic country increased by nearly seven-fold, reaching more than 360 euros per megawatt-hour in the latter month. The price increase was the result of a number of factors, including increased heating demand due to cold winters, a rise in natural gas and coal prices, and a shortage of gas supply following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
