Monthly wholesale electricity prices in Latvia 2019-2024
In April 2024, the average wholesale electricity price in Latvia showed a decreasing trend and amounted to 60.24 euros per megawatt-hour.
Between January 2021 and August 2022, electricity prices in the Baltic country increased nearly nine-fold, surpassing 467 euros per megawatt-hour in the latter month. In 2021 and 2022, electricity prices soared throughout Europe, the combination of a myriad of factors, including increased heating demand due to cold winters, a rise in natural gas and coal prices, and a decline in wind power generation due to low wind speed.
