Antibiotic resistance occurs when there is a mutation in the bacteria's genes, a natural process that can be accelerated with the misuse or excessive use of antibiotics. In 2022, a survey on the topic of resistance to antibiotics revealed that 75 percent of Italians thought that unnecessary use of antibiotics would make them ineffective.
