Initial and revised construction costs of nuclear units active in China 2021
The average actual construction costs of the nuclear reactors operative in China in 2021 amounted to almost 3,000 euros per kilowatt-hours electric. The largest disparity between initial and revised construction costs was observed for the nuclear units of Taishan, where the final construction costs were almost double the initial ones. The reactor Taishan 1 had to undergo additional maintenance works and was closed for one year between 2021 and 2022 due to a technical issue.
