Burnt forest area in the city of Rio de Janeiro 2010-2022
From 2010 to 2022, more than 3,000 hectares of forest burned in the city of Rio de Janeiro. In this period, the city's worst year was 2014, when 486 hectares burnt. The lowest burnt area happened in 2019, when a total area of 98 hectares burnt. However, the pandemic years 2020 and 2021 saw a total of nearly 700 hectares on flames.
