Children under five years old treated for respiratory infections Peru 2011-2021
From 2011 to 2021, the number of children under five years old treated for acute respiratory infections in Peru decreased from approximately three million cases to approximately one million cases. Upper respiratory tract infections (URIs) and lower respiratory tract infections (LRIs) compose the two categories of acute respiratory infections (ARIs). Pneumonia, the common cold, bronchitis, and acute ear infection are all examples of ARIs. As of 2022, Lima was the department in Peru with the highest number of cases of acute respiratory infections.
