Share of IPOs with participation of foreign banks in China 2009-2023
In 2023, only 1.2 percent of new A-share listings in China included foreign banks as investors, which was the lowest value since 2009. The Chinese stock market has strict limitations for foreign investors. Only institutional investors can purchase company shares on Chinese exchanges if they go through designated avenues, for instance, via buying stocks in on Hong Kong Exchange or partnering up with a mainland Chinese trading company.
