Cumulative forest-related carbon flux in Canada 2001-2022
Forest-related activities in Canada emitted a total of 18.3 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e) between 2001 and 2022. During this same period, Canadian forests absorbed just over 22 GtCO₂e, representing cumulative net removals of 4.2 GtCO₂e. Spanning almost 350 million acres, Canada is home to the fourth-largest forest area worldwide.
