Penetration of print book consumption in the U.S. 2019, by household income
Book consumption often varies according to age, gender, and ethnicity, but another key factor which affects how frequently U.S. adults read is their income. A survey held in early 2019 showed that 78 percent of respondents with an annual household income of more than 75,000 U.S. dollars a year stated they had read at least one printed book in the previous 12 months, compared to just 56 percent of those earning 30 thousand per year or less.
