Total health expenditure in the Netherlands 1998-2022, by type of expenses
This statistic shows the total health expenditure in the Netherlands from 1998 to 2022, by expense (in million euros). Health expenditure includes the care given to foreign people by Dutch providers. Expenses from mutual care given from one Dutch health care provider to another are excluded. 'Medical care' consists of both preventive and immediate medical care, as well as long-term medical treatment. Included are research and the use of medicine and/or supportive equipment and services. In 2022, Dutch medical care providers spent a total of over 107.6 billion euros on medical care. This is a slight decrease when compared to the previous year.
