Quarterly number of Visa issued debit cards in U.S. and worldwide 2008-2023
The number of VISA debit cards in circulation were largely found in the United States, making up about one third of all cards in the world. This distribution has been relatively stable over the years, although it should be noted that the United States is widely considered a credit card focused country. By the first quarter of 2023, there were about 921 million Visa debit cards in circulation in the United States and over 2.9 billion cards worldwide.
