The Big Four consulting firms have had an undeniable global presence over the past two decades and have remained as the largest and most prominent professional services firms in the world. These firms are Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, and EY. The focus here is on their United Kingdom endeavors, where they play an important role in serving the business and financial needs of many organizations. In the United Kingdom, the prestigious reputation of consulting firms have allowed them to use British taxpayer money in their operations as the UK government has continued to greenlight the outsourcing of public services.

Ever expanding services in the United Kingdom

All of the Big Four consulting firms have seen their operations expand significantly over the last few years in the United Kingdom. A particularly good example of this is with Deloitte, as the firm has seen their revenue increase by more than three billion British pounds since 2019. In terms of profit per partner, EY showed growth of more than 100,000 British pounds since 2018, whereas PwC grew their total workforce by approximately 10,000 employees since 2017.

Professional and public services

When broken down by industry segment, the financial services component of Deloitte was their largest source of revenue in the United Kingdom in 2023. In terms of public services, Deloitte generated a turnover of roughly 708 million British pounds from their government and public services industry segment in the same year. Similarly, PwC also had their highest earning service industry segment in financial services, and earned almost 1.1 billion British pounds from their government and health industries segment.
