In June 2018, 89.4 thousand customers had switched from a large electricity supplier to another company of similar size, while 255.9 thousand customers turned from leading electricity companies to small and mid-tier providers.
In 2017, 18 percent of consumers stated they had changed their gas provider over the last 12 months. Moreover, 49 percent of respondents said they had found the deals offered by their new supplier using an online price comparison service, while 28 percent had switched gas companies using the latter.
Also in 2017, 86 percent of consumers said they were aware they could switch to a different gas or electricity supplier and 93 percent felt that the process of switching energy providers was easy and straightforward. In addition, 28 percent of consumers expressed their concern about costs increasing after they had changed suppliers.
