In 2023, 55 percent of Poles planned a vacation for at least two days. Most Poles spent on vacation between 2,500 and 5,000 zloty on holiday trips and activities. As for travel destinations, Europe remains the most preferred destination. In 2021, Poles were most likely to travel to Italy and Croatia. The most popular region for domestic trips was Pomerania and Lesser Poland. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has had a significant impact on the tourism industry and the travel behavior of Poles. And although the pandemic is officially over, the tourism industry is slowly recovering and recouping pandemic-related losses. The largest group visiting Poland are still German tourists. However, after Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, the share of Ukrainians using tourist facilities in Poland increased. Also, inflation had an impact on changing tourist behavior in the country. Rising prices for foreign and domestic trips have caused many Poles to choose domestic vacations, with nearly one in three financing them with loans or credit.
