A study conducted in 2020 across India indicated that voice-enabled virtual assistants primarily served the purpose of entertainment, accounting for 35 percent of their overall usage. This was followed by requests regarding news, weather, and other information, accounting for 30 percent of virtual assistant usage in the country. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant were among the most popular digital assistants used by Indians.
