Enteric fermentation is the largest source of global agriculture emissions from within the farm gate. In 2020, the digestive processes of livestock accounted for almost 40 percent of farm-gate emissions worldwide. Rice cultivation is another major source of emissions within the farm gate, accounting for about nine percent of total emissions that year.
