California: electric vehicle fleet by propulsion type 2010-2022
The battery-electric vehicle fleet in California increased by 46.15 percent between 2021 and 2022, reaching 763,557 fully-electric light vehicles in circulation in the U.S. state. All-electric vehicles had been more popular than plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles during the previous years, with the exception of the period between 2012 and 2015, when PHEVs comprised the largest share of the electric fleet.
