It was estimated that the direct economic cost of overweight and obesity in Brazil will reach a value of 30.36 billion U.S. dollars by 2060. Of the total value, over 30 billion U.S. dollars are estimated for direct medical costs, while only 100 million U.S. dollars could be attributed to direct non-medical costs. That year, the total economic cost of overweight and obesity in Brazil is projected to reach more than 218 billion U.S. dollars.
