Finances of not-for-profit professional theaters in the U.S. 2009-2022
The income of not-for-profit professional theaters in the United States bounced back in 2022, following a sharp decline with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. While the earned income remained below pre-pandemic levels in 2022, the contributed income recovered from the impact of the health crisis, peaking at 1.66 billion U.S. dollars. Meanwhile, total expenses rose to 2.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2022, but did not catch up yet with pre-pandemic levels.
