Number of active volcanoes in Italy 2019, by region
This statistic shows the number of active volcanoes in Italy as of 2019, by region. According to data, in Sicily there were six active volcanoes, and in particular two - namely Etna and Stromboli – were permanently active. Among the other Sicilian ones, the volcanoes of Pantelleria and Lipari are located in the namesake islands, while in the Campania region, the last eruptive episode of Vesuvius was reported in 1944. Lastly, one volcano is present in Lazio, in the Colli Albani area.
